Arun Apte brings over 12 years of bioinformatics and hands on laboratory experience to Apticraft Systems. He co-wrote Primer Premier and designed the core algorithmic modules of AlleleID and several other projects. He currently oversees all operations including bioinformatics, new products, and software development. Prior to founding Apticraft Systems, he gained extensive laboratory experience at Clontech Laboratories (Palo Alto, CA).

He hold a B.A. in molecular and cell biology and biophysics from the University of California at Berkeley. He has received numerous honors and awards including the T. J. Watson scholarship from IBM, the University of California Alumni scholarship, and The Regents of California scholarship. He has published extensively on bioinformatics.
