  Department Manager - Bioinformatics

Function



Manage, direct and provide leadership to the team professionals trained in biology, statistics and other related disciplines, organized in several departments.


Overall product responsibility for all bioinformatic products from design to customer service.

Major Functions / Accountabilities


Monitor new technologies and innovate new products.


Communicate with customers and experts to understand unmet needs and translate them into features or products.

Develop international alliances.
Provide co-ordination among departments.

Good strategic and business planning skills. Must be able to grasp opportunity assessment, vision, marketing approach, operations and financial projections.

Ideal Candidate



A PhD in Life Sciences with a minimum of 5 years of work experience or education in US, UK or Australia.
Excellent communication skills is a must.

Experience in writing patent and grant applications preferred.
 

  Software Engineer

Essential Job Functions

Software engineer will be responsible for handling all part of our SDLC process. Beginning with Requirement analysis, Use case development, Product design, Module design, Interface preparation, Pre-compilation , Coding & Testing followed by deployment will be part of your responsibility.

Desired Profile


BE or B.Tech (CS) & (IT), M.Sc (Comp.), MCA & MCM with 60% & above.
Excellent technical strength with Core Java, Swing, JNDI, XML, XSLT, Jsp, Servelet.


OOAD, Knowledge of RUP, UML implementation, Systematic design principle with knowledge of Design pattern is required.


Good communication skills are required for inter departmental communication & client communication. Neutral accent of English is desirable.


Freshers are welcome & software professionals upto 1 year of experience would be taken as fresher.
 

  Bioinformatics Scientists

Function

In this position, the person would actively participate in domain development which includes researcher correspondences, understanding their requirements, developing sound biological domains for the same. He/She needs to do extensive Internet research on cutting edge molecular biology/genomic techniques. Researcher correspondence include communication with scientists in US and Europe.

Bioinformatics Scientist also need to interact with the development team for the development of products. These interactions involve making them understand the biological requirements, dictating the exact software requirements and testing the functionalities of the software developed.

Requirements

The applicant must be a Post-Graduate in Biotechnology, Micro-Biology, Life Sciences or Biochemistry with a strong back ground in Molecular Biology. Applicants with a background in Bioinformatics would be preferred. Excellent communication skills are a must.
 

  Statistician

Function

Bio statistician will develop and apply mathematical or statistical theories and methods to solve complex statistical problems in biology which are relevant with the ongoing Bioinformatic projects in the company. Would be responsible for:

Study and analyze carefully the biological theories for which statistical analysis is sought.
Identify the appropriate statistical techniques considering all the requisite conditions.


Assist Biologists in designing and developing projects. Statistical interpretation of the results.
Developing the layout and structures of data input for statistical analysis.
Developing efficient algorithms for the statistical techniques.



If no standard statistical technique is available, then the Bio-statistician is responsible for developing Statistical/Mathematical models to express various Chemical and Biological pathways.



Application and algorithm development for statistical techniques such as Cox regression, cluster analysis, collinearity, principal component analysis, factor analysis, discriminant analysis and dynamic programming.
Perform test of significance and interpret the results in biological terminology.


Numerical techniques to calculate p values of various distributions such as chi-square, student's t, F, normal, beta, gamma etc.

Requirements



The individual must have Post Graduate in Statistics/Applied Statistics/Biostatistics (First class) along with a first class degree in Statistics/Mathematics.
Good knowledge of programming.


Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential & knowledge SPSS is an added advantage.

Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Some experience would be advantageous but freshers are also welcome.

  Technical Writer

Function



Designing and conducting training modules in technical communication for software engineers & bioinformatics scientists.
Writing invited chapters for publication in international journals.

Creation of writing standards for all staff.

Editing of user manual guides, online help. and all marketing material.

Mentoring new writers.

Person Specification



A budding /seasoned professional with hands on experience of 1 plus year in a professionally managed Bioinformatics; Biotechnology; IT; ITES company.


Msc/Bsc (Preferably Biology/Bioinformatics/Microbiology/Biochemistry). Or Msc/Bsc with higher education in English Language.


Lived/worked/Studied abroad in a country having English as First Language. Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
